The Town Council has agreed to fund four new defibrillators for the community in conjunction with the Community Heartbeat Trust.
There are two locations in which the defibs have been installed and are operational:
- St Giles Hospice / The Cancer Centre – Lindridge Road
- Ian Hazels Funerals – Mere Green
Moor Hall School is a further location and has the box installed but is awaiting registration with the Ambulance service and one further location is yet to be agreed.
The defibs are located in a brightly coloured metal box on public buildings and in public spaces. They are used in cases of life threatening cardiac emergencies. They are designed to be effectively used by non-medical people in an emergency situation whilst waiting for the emergency services to arrive and a number of people receive training on how to use the equipment.
