Mayor’s dinner raises thousands to support town cancer charity

The Mayor of Sutton Coldfield has thanked all those who supported his charity dinner on Friday night (2nd February).

The event took place at Moor Hall Hotel and Spa and was held in aid of his chosen charity, the Cancer Support Centre. Guests raised a total of £3650.

Mayor of Sutton Coldfield, Councillor David Pears said: “I am so pleased we raised a significant amount to support the good work that the Cancer Support Centre do. The event was very well attended and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone that helped to make the evening such a success.”

Over 120 people enjoyed a three course dinner and took part in a raffle and a silent auction, with prizes all donated by local businesses. Horton Motorcycles have also donated a 50cc scooter as a raffle prize, which will be drawn on 20 April.

Patricia Brighton is Head of Fundraising and Events at the Cancer Support Centre. She said: “We are so delighted to be nominated as the Mayor of Royal Sutton Coldfield’s chosen charity this year. Thank you to the Mayor and his team for all their work, and to those who were so generous on the night.”

Photos were taken for free by Brian Dowdall and Hazel Gibson of local business Trinity Photography and Steve Arnold provided a table juggling act to entertain guests.
