Nominations are now open for the second Sutton Coldfield Community Awards.
Following the success of the first Community Awards event held in 2017, the Town Council is looking to reward the everyday efforts and achievements of extraordinary people who give their time to make a difference to the lives of their neighbours and communities in Sutton Coldfield.
New for 2018 is the category of Community Group of the Year. The town boasts very many active community groups, including environmental organisations, faith groups and health and well being groups, as well as those run to support the young people of the town. The Town Council is encouraging residents to nominate a group which benefit their local community or of which they are a member.
The Mayor of Sutton Coldfield, Councillor Derrick Griffin commented: “Sutton Coldfield has a long, strong and proud tradition of people doing exceptional work for the benefit of residents. Good people make our Royal town a great place to live. The Town Council wants to celebrate those people and their outstanding achievements
“Most of them will be amazed when they are nominated because they are quietly going about their business, but that’s often the case with truly inspiring people – they won’t know how inspirational they are and we won’t know who they are until you tell us.
“So let us know about those who are making a difference in your community and we’ll be happy to share their good work.”
Nominations are sought in the following categories:
- Good Citizen/Neighbour
- Young Person’s Award
- Volunteer of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
- Community Group of the Year
The closing date is Friday 7th September. Awards will be announced at an evening reception on Thursday 11th October, to which all shortlisted nominees will be invited.
