Introducing David Pears, the Mayor of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield

David Pears represents Trinity ward on both the Town and City Councils, whilst holding office as Mayor since May 2017. Raised in Sutton Coldfield and educated at Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School, he realised his passion for politics in 1976. He lives in the town with his wife and together they have three sons.

Passionate about the town’s historic past and vibrant future, David was an intrinsic member of the Town Council before being elected Mayor. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling and visiting parks, both home and abroad.

He is an active volunteer within his community, and an avid supporter of children and young adults throughout our community. Here are just some of the contributions David has made to The Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield:

  • He is a proud founder of Friends of Rectory Park, playing a key role in securing over £500,000 for park improvements
  • He supported the foundation of the Sutton Coldfield Community Games
  • He sits on the management panel at Clifton Road Youth Centre
  • He has been a Governor of Holland House Infant School and Nursery, Town Junior School and The Arthur Terry School
  • He has chaired the Sutton Park Advisory Committee
  • He helped to form Sutton Coldfield Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID)
